I really, really don't like writing about myself. I don't know why. But here's all I have to say...

I've lived in and around Melbourne, Victoria all my life. It's a nice enough place, I suppose. I've always been fascinated with cartoon art, graphic design and such related things. Even as a little kid, mundane little things like headline typography grabbed my attention. I was probably a boring kid. I recently graduated from RMIT University, where I crunched through a Batchelor of Design in Multimedia Systems after attaining a Diploma of Multimedia at NMIT. Everything in the multimedia field changes so fast, though, so I feel like I still have so much to learn. I've dabbled a little bit behind the scenes with programming, servers and the like in completing my degree, but all that did was prove that Photoshop, After Effects and their ilk were far more fun. My influences and inspirations come from the nascent origins of our modern digital era throughout the 1980s and 1990s. The wild thrashing of home computing and digital entertainment as it learned to crawl, walk and run was a hotbed of creativity spawned from improvisation and compromise, and the lessons learned around the world during that era guide my work. Ultimately, I aim to entertain, and to use the little glowing rectangles everybody uses on a day-to-day basis to make people smile and laugh. That's a decent enough goal to aspire to, right? |
